EDUCATION & BACKGROUND

Doris received both her MBA and BBA from Cleveland State University.  She and her husband, Douglas, enjoy gardening, traveling, and reading.

RESPONSIBILITIES AT WD&W

Doris is the Firm's Director of Taxation.  She has developed in-depth knowledge working with both C and S corporations, as well as partnerships and limited liability companies.  In addition, she is familiar with qualified retirement plan and fringe benefit plans.

SPECIALTY AREAS

She is a member of the financial planning group at WD&W and has worked with clients to transfer business and nonbusiness assets.  These plans include the use of family limited partnerships, nonqualified deferred compensation plans, gifting, and various types of sales agreements to minimize tax liability, while accomplishing the transferrer's goals.

BEHIND THE CREDENTIALS

Who has been the most influential person in your life/career?  Have you seen the commercial with all the people behind the Verizon guy?  At different times different people have influenced me.  They’re all behind me contributing to who I am.

Why do you do what you do?  I like challenges, I like helping people, and I like variety.  This is the one job where you can put that all together.

What did you learn during your first year on the job that you still use today?  You can’t remember everything, so just make sure you know where to find the answer.

What is the best book you’ve ever read?  Pride and Prejudice.

What was your favorite class in college?  The Flying Circus of Physics.

Describe the best vacation you’ve ever taken.  A trip to England.  My husband and I spent some time in England, went to the theatre, and took a bus tour, seeing sites I'd previously only read about.

How do you spend April 16th?  Going over everything to make sure I didn’t miss anything!

What was the first car you ever owned?  1964 Ford Galaxy 500.

What is the best play you’ve seen?  Arsenic and Old Lace with Jean Stapleton and Maureen Dowd.

Have you ever played a musical instrument?  Yes, the violin.
