John E. Kromar, CPA
EDUCATION & BACKGROUND
John graduated from Cleveland State University after a tour of duty in the Army (Vietnam). He has a Bachelor's Degree of Business Administration with a major in accounting. John became a member of our Firm in 2001 through a merger with Swearingen & Swearingen Co, a local Mentor CPA firm.
SPECIALTY AREAS
John's 35 years in public accounting have allowed him to gain knowledge working with private foundations, construction, various professional service companies, retail and wholesale operations, and manufacturing.
He provides related client services, including: tax planning, preparation and compliance, financial statements, assistance with cash flow projection and management, financial forecasts, and budgeting.
He is a member of the Firm's Financial Planning Practice Group and continues to service clients out of our Mentor office.

Who has been the most influential person in your life/career? My wife and counsel, who believed in me and helped support my decisions - the good ones and even the not so good ones.
What would you like to learn? Flying a plane.
Why do you do what you do? Believe it or not, it's what I'm good at. I truly enjoy working with and helping the variety of people who are my clients, and based on so many long-term relationships, they are more like friends.
Describe yourself in one word. Sincere.
What is the best book you’ve ever read? Mitchner's Hawaii.
How do you unwind? Working on my boat, reading - mostly fiction.
Describe the best vacation you've ever taken. We took our boat on a two-week trip up Lake Huron to the Georgian Bay and the North Channel in Canada. The pristine waters, solitude, natural beauty, and the night sky, lit up only by a million start of the milky way are things I'll never forget.
What’s your claim to fame? I make the best apple pie you ever ate.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be? The 'out islands' of the Bahamas on a bareboat charter.
Favorite music group? Creedence Clearwater Revival.
