John S. Veres
EDUCATION & BACKGROUND
John "JV" graduated from John Carroll University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. majoring in accounting. He began his public accounting career with Schultz, Krahe, Martin & Long in June 1959.
In 1962 he went to work at Standard Oil Co. in the internal auditing department. In the evening and weekends, he started to build his own public accounting practice. He also managed to find time to fit in six years of night law school. JV received his Juris Doctor of Law Degree in 1971.
He and Tony Jelenic were partners of Veres & Co. from November 1, 1980 to July 31, 2005 when they merged with WDW.

JV specializes in taxes and real estate (commercial and residential).
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
JV is a Eucharistic Adorer and a Lector at St. Matthias Church. He is on the board of the Erwin and Katherine Geis Foundation and volunteers at the Brookside Center, an organization which provides food and clothing for the less fortunate.
BEHIND THE CREDENTIALS
How do you define success? Having a great relationship with God and being blessed with a wonderful family. Also, having a wonderful wife, Joan, for fifty years who was very instrumental in raising our family of five children.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received? The most important words are Please, May I, and Thank You.
What did you learn during your first year on the job that you still use today? A dollar in tax postponed is a dollar saved.
What is the best book you’ve ever read? Battle Cry.
How do you spend April 16th? On the beach in Hilton Head, with all the members of the family that can make it.
How do you unwind? Attending my nine grandchildren’s various sporting events.
What did you want to be when you grew up? a CPA.
What’s your claim to fame? Walking on my hands across a gym.
What one thing about you would most people find surprising? I am an only child and was born during the Depression.
Favorite music group? Bee Gees, Neil Diamond, Michael W. Smith.
Have you ever played a musical instrument? No, I took one blow into a saxophone & gave up!
What was your favorite toy as a child? Tinker toys, but I couldn’t figure out how to open the box.
